Castillo de Santa Barbara

The 16th century fortress is the main attraction in Alicante, where admission is free. There is a lift reached by a footbridge opposite Playa del Postiguet, fir the easiest access.

Kontiki

There is a street in Alicante called Kontiki. Also, a company called Kontiki runs boats from Alicante to the Isla de Tabarco, an island with snorkelling and scuba diving from quiet beaches.

Oregon Caves

Candle light tours through the Oregon Caves go every Friday and Saturday at 6:30pm all through summer. Normal tours every day from 9am-6pm. Reservations are first come first served.

In the park there are additional activities:

• 4 designated hikes.
• Off-path caving classes. Only for the fit.
  
• Other "nearby" activites.

Lodging is possible at a chateau in the park.

Folsom Street Fair

On September 27 the Folsom Street Fair has public spankings for local charities. It is perhaps the World's largest leather event.

Ghost Town

Super nifty state park, the best preserved ghost town from the gold rush era of California, 3 hours from Lake Tahoe/Reno: Bodie State Historic Park (picture right).  No camping.  Maybe a good place to stay is Mono Lake Tufa State Park(picture left)?  Less  than 20 miles south of Bodie
